Women's Oppression and Liberation
11:45am Sat 04 Aprmelbourne
Women’s oppression long predates capitalism, but the modern system reshaped it to serve the needs of capital—through unpaid domestic labour, wage inequality, and rigid gender norms.
This session examines the Marxist explanation of women’s oppression, challenging biological or purely cultural theories.
Crucially, we explore why liberation cannot be won simply through representation or market “empowerment,” but through collective struggle and a transformation of the economic structures that rely on gendered oppression.
