We desperately need an alternative to the major parties. Labor has continued the assault on working-class living standards. They have refused to increase taxes on corporations, legislate meaningful wage increases or restore vital social services. Incredibly, they are accelerating payment on AUKUS, handing billions of dollars to Donald Trump's government.

Meanwhile, Peter Dutton's Liberal Party is experimenting with a viciously conservative political agenda, and right-wing independents and minor parties are contributing to the most reactionary tendencies in Australian politics.

The Greens have offered partial opposition to this. But, as the federal election draws closer, they are more interested in becoming responsible partners in a Labor minority government than they are in providing an alternative to all this.

In Victoria, Socialist Alternative is supporting the Victorian Socialists' federal campaign in its attempts to build a radical, socialist opposition to this status quo.
