The communist party in Palestine
11:45am Fri 03 Aprmelbourne
In its early years, the Palestinian communist party was a substantial force in national politics in Palestine prior, uniting Arab and Jewish people in class and political struggle.
Yet by 1948, it was supporting the partition of Palestine and the creation of an apartheid state.
This talk will explore how Stalin's imperial goals, and the politics of popular frontist nationalism, destroyed this organisation and tarnished the idea of socialist politics in the region for decades to come.
