Russia: When Workers took Power
7:00pm Sat 04 Aprmelbourne
The 1917 Russian Revolution remains the most important example of workers seizing political power and attempting to build a socialist society.
This session recounts how workers’ councils (soviets) overthrew the old order, how revolutionary organisation played a decisive role, and how millions of ordinary people transformed society. Far from being a coup, it was a mass democratic uprising that showed what working-class power can look like.
Understanding 1917 is essential not just historically, but as a living example of revolutionary possibility.
