Human sexuality is a challenge to understand in a society where it is so profoundly shaped by oppression and social expectation. Queer theory and Marxism offer competing insights. One concerns itself with explaining why sexuality is expressed the way it is, and how it could be different, while the other proposes an integrated theory of human liberation. This session will make a case for a revolutionary Marxist understanding of how sexual liberation can be won.
