Marxism vs Black nationalism: strategies for defeating racism
10:00am Sat 30 Marmelbourne
About this session
The civil rights and black power movements of the 1960s saw an upsurge in Black nationalism- a varied political tendency which expressed the desire to struggle for independence from the oppressive structures of the American state. These ideas inspired organisations from the Nation of Islam to the Black Panther Party, spread across the world, and still shape discussions about racial justice today. This session will explore the difference between revolutionary Marxist and Black nationalist strategies for defeating racism.
