Identity politics in movements today
2:15pm Sun 20 Aprmelbourne
About this session
Identity politics centres the experience of the oppressed and their leadership in resisting oppressions like racism and sexism. This can seem innocuous and a common sense position for those wanting to challenge oppression, but it is a poor strategy to fight oppression. This session will engage with the practical impact of identity politics in movements today and argue why the fight against oppression needs a different, class-based approach.
