Building a socialist movement in Kenya with Purity Machogu
10:00am Thu 02 Aprmelbourne
Two years ago a massive youth protest movement exploded onto the streets of Kenya, rejecting years of growing inequality and the corrupt rule of an uber-wealthy elite. This session will explore the attempts by Kenyan socialist activists to build a revolutionary anti-capitalist organisation in Kenya, one that rejects the meddling of the imperialist powers and the African capitalist class that has ruled over Kenya since independence.
Speaker: Purity Machogu is a member of the Permanent Revolutionary Congress in Kenya. She is one of the leaders of its women’s front and a former leading student activist.
