It’s no secret that Australia’s capitalist class has always relied on migrant labour to work the mines and workshops. But at the same time, our political landscape has always been marked by virulent racism from the White Australia policy to bipartisan torture of refugees.
How does migration help the Australian ruling class manage the supply and exploitation of labour? Does racism help or hinder profit-making? And what is the principled socialist position on borders and migration?
