Australia, AUKUS and the New Imperialist Order
4:15pm Fri 26 Marmelbourne
Australia is not immune to the resurgence of militarism across the world. The Albanese government has chased Trump around the globe, desperate to shore up the AUKUS deal.
Labor has welcomed even more US troops onto Australian soil, and poured billions into our own home-grown military capabilities. Despite growing public skepticism of AUKUS, there's no sign that the Australian ruling class will slow down this headlong rush.
This session will discuss why Australia is so addicted to the US alliance, and how this shapes Australian politics today.
