The island detention centres of Manus Island and Nauru are just two in a long line of Australian concentration camps. From the earliest days of colonisation through to the incaceration of ‘enemy aliens’ in the first and second world wars, the Australian ruling class has used camps as a method of control and punishment. This talk will explore this hidden history.
