The yellow peril: a history of anti-Asian racism

4:15pm Sat 30 Mar
melbourne

About this session

The history of anti-Chinese sentiment in Australia has been driven by the Australian ruling class’s agenda, their strategic concerns and their imperialist aims. This was true in the period of White Australia, and is true today as a result of rising tensions between the US and China. This talk will investigate the history of anti-Asian racism in Australia to shed light on its roots and explain its relationship to capitalism.
