Why "ethical consumerism" is a neoliberal dead-end

12:00pm Sun 17 Apr
melbourne

About this session

Going vegan, plastic-free, green banking and ensuring your toilet paper brand has a social conscience - today, there is no shortage of options for those who hope to shop their way to a better world. However, this session will show that ethical consumerism is a deeply anti-working class strategy that does nothing to challenge the destructive and exploitative nature of production under capitalism. The session will also discuss how alternative strategies, based on collective action, give us a fighting chance to achieve the radical changes we need in society.
