The 1619 Project: debates on slavery, US history and capitalism
About this session
The 1619 Project aimed to "reframe the country's history by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of Black Americans at the very center of the United States' national narrative." The project has received intense criticism from the culture-warrior-right in the USA, as well as some critics on the left and serious historians. How should Marxists assess these debates and the scholarship of the 1619 Project? Come participate in a talk and discussion on just that.
