Marx said that it was only through a revolution that people can rid themselves of all the backward ideas they have collected living in a capitalist society; he called it the “muck of ages”. But are there other ways to change people’s ideas? Can an effort to educate people in progressive politics make a difference? Understanding how ideas are created and changed is crucial to understanding socialism, which is why this session is an important part of the introductory stream.
