About this session
In 1925, Fred Maynard founded the Australian Aboriginal Progressive Association (AAPA), which advocated for the right of Aboriginal people to determine their own lives. The AAPA fought a long battle against the Aborigines Protection Board, and in the process drew hundreds of Aboriginal people across NSW into campaigning for their rights. This session by John Maynard, Indigenous historian and Maynard's grandson, will uncover this hidden history of the fight for Indigenous rights in the 1920s.
