Despite the depiction of Iran as a homogeneously conservative country, it remains the home of deep social divisions and unrest. From the revolution in 1979 to the democratic protests in 2017-2018, there is a strong history of mass political activity in pursuit of a better life. This session will offer an insight into the complex country, the animating spirit of these struggles and the state of things today.
